Shadow Shot Sunday

This time I went out looking for shadow shots.  Well, I didn't go far, just the back yard.  Then when I saw the shot, it was, what shall I say? - less than satisfying.  So I thought hmmmmm, shadows are black (sort of) so let's try black and white.  I think the black and white is more interesting.  What do you think?

OK, I know, they're both not fantastic, but I'm pretty sure the black and white is the better of the two.  Why not go over to http://heyharriet.blogspot.com/ see all the spectacular shadow shots and maybe leave one of your own?  Have a wonderful Sunday.  Be a blessing to someone today.  Peace.  B : )

I think you are very creative with you shadowy reflections. I like them both equally as well.
Enjoy you day :)

The first one is pretty (and inviting!) but I think I like the B&W one better. It's rather ghostly!

Thanks for stopping by ~ you have a lovely Sunday too!

I like them both, the shade of blue in the colour shot is gorgeous, but the black and white one is somehow sharper

Cool shot B! I'm not sure which way I like it better. The pool just looks so pretty and refreshing in color but the palm reflection does show up better in the black and white. Thanks for your very nice comment :-)

PS you should like this one up to the Monochrome Maniacs too! The link is over on my shadow shot entry (I edited to add it this morning)

Have a beautiful Sunday!

Both are interesting shots for different reasons. I agree with Martha about linking with Monochrome Maniacs. I don't know much about black & white photos, but I learn as I visit others and occasionally give it a try myself. Thanks for visiting my shadow mosaic. Hope you and yours have a wonderful Sunday.
Hugs and blessings,

The black and white one makes us see what we missed looking at that lovely blue!
Happy SSS!

Great idea to do both color and black and white - they both have so much to see in them - even though they are the same picture the color change makes the differences striking. Nice job!

I'm still getting over the fact that you have such a beautiful pool in the back yard - yard in UK would be a tiny concrete square!! but yes I agree the black and white is more haunting somehow..

They're both attractive, in different ways. I like the blue one for its colors, but the B&W works better as a shadow shot.

As pointed out, it's sharper and the color of the other obscures the detail.

It's a difficult call, but I think I prefer the second shot. Mind you, I could dive right into that first shot - we are in for a hot and stormy day in Brisbane today, which is great, because we are in the middle of a drought. Oh, and yes, you can buy that fabric on line. They are Kaffe Fassett and Amy Butler designs. Glad you liked them!

These are lovely shots. I prefer the blcak & white, but the colour version is sweet. As would be splashing around that pool right now! I wish I had a pool :)

Black and white. Definitely. I love the complexity of the different depths and reflections. Very cool!
