Fertilizer Friday, SkyWatch Friday, NaBloPoMo-Green

We have gobs of these things, but only one decided it was time to shine!  He was hiding behind some other things, but that color caught my eye and I caught him!  Happy Fertilizer Friday!

Please excuse the dirty and pitted windshield - that's the best I could do while I was driving : )  Happy SkyWatch Friday.

SkyWatch Friday, Fertilizer Friday, and NaBloPoMo-Green

SkyWatch Friday - just a little woodpecker in a tangle of old branches left over from our cold winter.  These little guys managed to successfully trim the dead branches from three of these trees.  If only we could train them to pick up after themselves : )

Fertilizer Friday (and NaBloPoMo although I've missed two posts this month)

Longans and lemons - we have been sampling longans for a while but they need just a little more time.  The lemons are getting large.  We have been picking up tons of windfall limes rather than picking the ones that are still growing.  Unfortunately, I cannot even see the ground under the lemon tree so if there are any windfalls, they're turning into fertilizer!   Yesterday I spent a bit of time zesting and squeezing the limes.  I mixed the juice with some water and made ice cubes, and I put the zest in my dehydrator and made dried lime zest for future use.  Recycling - that's what NaBloPoMo-Green is all about this month.  The best part is when the citrus fruit is all gone, you can still use the leaves for cooking.

These are for Ricepatty because she likes purple (oh and the leaves are for NaBloPoMo)

And here on SkyWatch Friday, it seems I have done it again.  Here is another cloud that mimics the shape of a tree!

Guess I have an infinity for copy cat clouds : )

Oh jeez, I did it again - sorry, long post alert!

FERTILIZER FRIDAY:

Our little peach tree was so heavy with fruit, it was lying on the ground.  the peaches were growing like grapes in clusters.

So we liberated the poor tree of its burden and now the crazy thing is growing new leaves!  That's Joy under the tree - she likes to eat wood, and peaches - we're still trying to find out why on the wood.  The peaches she plays with till they "die".  We don't let her do that anymore though, because we didn't know she was eating them until she ate one and vomited a peach pit - thank God it came out!

SKYWATCH FRIDAY:

There is always a skyshow in Florida, no matter what season, what time, or anything - there is ALWAYS something interesting in the sky.  So why don't I take more sky shots???

CAMERA CRITTERS:

This is the smaller of Ricky's two little houses - his den.  He's all sacked out there, tucked up in the corner next to my computer desk.

SIX WORD SATURDAY:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LINCOLN - TODAY YOU'RE ONE!

(Actually it's Sunday, but I'm running behind again)

WEEKEND REFLECTIONS:

Window AND bottom door panel - too cool!

SUNDAY SHADOW SHOTS:

The Queen Mum gave me these keys for Christmas - I strung them on rough twine and hung them over the door.

All of these memes, and the people who take care of them, and the people who participate are extraordinary - I simply cannot do them justice with my silly little pix.  Please do yourself a favor and go check out some really great shots.  Just click on the appropriate button(s) to the right.

Hope your weekend is enjoyable so far - and better later.  Peace.  B : )

Oh boy am I behind!! AND I have a question....

Question - has anyone else experienced any changes in Blogger?  My pictures used to go where I put them, but lately they've been going to the top of the post and I have to move them to where I want them.  It's always possible I changed a setting, being an impatient clicker, but I was wondering if this happened to anyone else????

FERTILIZER FRIDAY:

For every gardening joy

you will find at least one, maybe more, gardening upsets.  For instance, the Passion Flower (above) is invasive AND the bugs do horrible things to the veggies:

SKYWATCH FRIDAY:

Projectile vomiting cloud

COLOR CARNIVAL:

The Color Carnival meme has changed some of the rules, so I'm not quite sure this can be entered yet, but here it is before I forget it : )  I'll go check later.

SIX WORD SATURDAY:

It's hot here and humid too!

CAMERA CRITTERS:

I asked my DH why it's back was so bumpy and he said it's probably babies - don't look if critters make you squeamish : )

SHADOW SHOT SUNDAY:

Looks kind of Halloweenish doesn't it?

WEEKEND REFLECTIONS:

Look at all the little bitty palm trees along the curves of my car - looks like custom pin striping!!

Fertilizer Friday and SkyWatch Friday

Friday already, although it must have seemed a long time coming to you folks who are working away to make this world go around properly.  I salute you, and appreciate you....as I do all the veterans of all of the armed forces.  Please take a few minutes to think of them during this long weekend...none came back unchanged.

FERTILIZER FRIDAY:

One small section of our yards that we don't mess with - God did a great job on it and it doesn't need our help -

And here is our very very small sugar snap pea crop - I think there may be three or four edible pods there.  Oh well.  It is still so much fun to watch them grow!

SKYWATCH FRIDAY:

Looks like a Michelin Man monster : ) - right arm stretched out, left arm covered up a bit, big black holes for eyes...

Have a wonderful weekend.  Thank you veterans. Peace.  B : )

WEEKEND REFLECTIONS:
Gingerbread reflections (maybe some shadows too) on windows, walls, and metal roof.

Have a wonderful weekend.  Take some time to honor all the mothers in your life - they're doing a really hard job.  All of you who are mothers - take some time to relax and realize just how special you are.  Peace.  B : )

Edited to add the Weekend Reflections picture - Allhorsestuff, you were right, the shot did not get posted.  I'm pretty sure the problem was between the monitor and the chair : )  Thanks for telling me!!

Sorry, got busy and didn't post Friday, so now there are lots!  To participate in any of these great memes, or just to go look at some out of this world terrific photos, just click on the appropriate buttons to the right.

SKYWATCH FRIDAY:

A lovely early evening view from the patio at our Aunt Doris and Uncle Mike's house.

FERTILIZER FRIDAY:
I LOVE gazanias, just love them.  I had two and lost them in the cold spell, but one had re-seeded itself and it came up with spring.  I decided to get lots of gazanias and plant them all in one place as a startling burst of color, a happy spot, and because if it gets cold again I can cover them all up.  Gazanias go to bed at night.  Here are some shots of the re-seeded gazania, sleeping and awake, and a shot of the TEN gazanias I bought yesterday, all still sleeping this morning.  Hey, they're only 97 cents! : )  When they're open, their colors are brilliant.  They also had a purplish pinkinsh maroonish color, but that wasn't what I was looking for.

COLOR CARNIVAL:

Just look at that sunbeam to the left, isn't that gorgeous?  The funny thing behind the flower is one of those landscape stones, scalloped, that you put in a ring around your trees.  I got it years ago and the kids and I painted it.  It's a scene with a mountain and a rainbow and it says Peace and has the kids' names on it.

CAMERA CRITTERS:
This kind of critter you DON'T want in your garden, and they're hard to locate when the pot is full of lush bushy plants.  Well, it's not anymore, thanks to these guys.  Oh well, the food chain, we all have to live in it.

Sure hope they enjoyed the tomatoes.  You know, the warm weather and all the beautiful plants in Florida are wonderful, but a decent food garden is quite a challenge - and I miss lilacs : )

SIX WORD SATURDAY:

Busy week; maybe I'll relax today!

SHADOW SHOT SUNDAY:
All kinds of pretty shadows amongst the leaves in the pomegranate

WEEKEND REFLECTIONS:
Funny, when I categorized this photo, I didn't even put it in the Weekend Reflections file because I didn't even notice all the reflections.  Pretty silly of me since they're all over the truck, and the cars, and I had the camera on such a close-up setting that I even got that one driver's face in his mirror!  Funny too, the next shot I got was while I was driving by the statue and I didn't even look, just shot and it wound up being a shot up the nurses's skirt, but, no reflections, so you don't get to see it : )

Have a wonderful weekend and peace to you all. B : )
