Holy Camoley - Even the Weather People Were Impressed!!

In the time between Sunday night and Monday morning, we had some storms.  Evidently they were quite impressive.  We had over 9,000 lightening strikes in an hour within a 50 square mile radius!  It seems my modem is afraid of storms and it gave out.  The Comcast man brought me a new one Tuesday morning and now I'm here to catch up on my missed memes.

MELLOW YELLOW MONDAY:

OMG, while I was gone, they changed how you put pictures up on the blog - just had to teach myself.  Anyway, this little guy sits outside the sliding glass doors so I can sit in my recliner (poor me) and see him.

RUBY TUESDAY:

You have to work to see your Ruby today - besides the faded red mulch, there are some fallen rose petals here.  It's prettier if you enlarge it.

WATERY WEDNESDAY:

This was taken at the dog park, but those aren't dogs in that water.

ABC WEDNESDAY - O IS FOR OVAL

Awwww, baby peaches.  Make it bigger and check out the fuzz!

Color Carnival, Camera Critters, Six Word Saturday, Shadow Shot Sunday, Weekend Reflections

COLOR CARNIVAL:
Is mostly one color this week

which brings us to
SIX WORD SATURDAY:

Happiness - dog feet and yellow flowers.

CAMERA CRITTERS:

This is Jeffie's "glamour shot" hence the low lighting : )

SHADOW SHOT SUNDAY:

For a few days I thought this was a morning glory because we used to have one that color, and kept wondering how it got there.  I finally went out front (I spend most of my time out back) and looked and it was one lonely petunia.  Still don't know how it got there unless an obliging bird planted it for me : )

WEEKEND REFLECTIONS:
Me and the trees in the wheelbarrow under the eaves (free poem today!)

Hope you have a wonderful weekend.  If you'd like to make it better, click on some of the buttons to the right and join in on the meme fun.  Peace.  B : )

Mellow Yellow Monday

Say hello to the yellow (AKA summer and crooked neck) squash blossom

If I can only keep Joy from eating them!  They have a little fence AND a tomato cage, and she sticks her little head in there.

Color Carnival, Camera Critters, Six Word Saturday, Shadow Shot Sunday, Weekend Reflections, AND KUDOS

COLOR CARNIVAL:
My favorite room, and I made almost everything in it, even the lampshade cover.

CAMERA CRITTERS:
A little friend from the dogpark - Hey, where's Dorothy?

SIX WORD SATURDAY:
This may not excite you, but it's a wonderful thing in my world -

JOY'S POO ALMOST NORMAL, THANK GOD!

SHADOW SHOT SUNDAY:

WEEKEND REFLECTIONS:

AND NOW FOR THE KUDOS:
You may or may not know this about me by now, but I truly appreciate good customer service and I find that it grows more difficult daily to find it.  For instance, my bank was taken over and they set a date for the final changeover; some of my bills did not get paid.  When I e-mailed them about any help they could give me I was more or less told too bad.

However, when I bought a toy for Joy

and she squished all the squeakers (16 of them) in about 20 minutes, Joy had a wonderful time with this toy and just went crazy on it.  The squeakers, you can feel, are VERY heavy duty, so it wasn't their fault.  The lamb still has a rattle in the head and Joy still loves it which is a design coup for the company. I e-mailed the company who made it.  I told them that I did not expect them to do anything about it, I just wanted them to know that Joy loved it so well, it didn't last as long as they may have thought it would.   This company, The Kyjen Company, Inc. sent me a return e-mail very quickly saying they were sorry to hear about this and if I would give them my address, they would send Joy a new toy.  I thought that was fantastic!  When I e-mailed back to thank them and tell them how great I thought that was, they replied saying Joy would be very happy indeed because they were going to send a new toy ALSO that had just been released that day.

TWO toys and it wasn't even their fault!  Joy was having a very bad day the day the toys arrived because I was witholding food from her for over 24 hours in an effort to cure her poo problems.  When her Dad walked in with the package and opened it up she was jumping up and down.  She took off flying with the skunk and proceeded to just love it to death.  It not only has squeakers, many of them, but it also has like a duck call in it's tail.  Greyhounds are trained with this sound, so she was ecstatic.

Please, do yourself and your pets a favor and click on the link above for Kyjen and go enjoy their site and buy their stuff.  They have much more than toys; they have lots of useful stuff.  There are videos and photos and all kinds of fun stuff.  I got Joy's original toy at Pet SuperMarket, but you can buy on line and at other stores.  I just went there to check out the link and found a Clearance Department - so when I'm done this, I'm going back there!  SHOW A GOOD COMPANY SOME LOVE!!

ABC Wednesday - L is for Life and Lizards and Little and Lavender AND Watery Wednesday where L is for Lincoln

ABC WEDNESDAY:
L IF FOR LIFE - brand new life - looks like it's taking flight doesn't it?

L IS FOR LIZARDS - Zimmie likes her food - "let me at it!"

L IS FOR LITTLE AND LAVENDER - these wildflowers are so little they're almost microscopic - if they weren't that lovely lavender color, you'd never notice them at all - they look like a speck

AND WATERY WEDNESDAY WHERE L IS ALSO FOR LINCOLN - the grandson loves leaning over, playing in the dog fountain. Sometimes he lies down on his belly and plays with both hands, and laughs.

Lots of lovely life for you to look upon.  Like more?  Click on the buttons to the right.  Love, light, and laughter to you - and Peace of course.  B : )

Today for Ruby Tuesday, I have "tue" pictures for you:

Doesn't the new green growth to the left look like those wavy armed guys at the used car stores?  I LOVE it!

And this one looks like a lobster claw clasp on jewelry.  Oh but wait, we're supposed to be looking at the red parts.  Yeah, they're pretty cool too!

Mellow Yellow Monday

This morning, Ci chose her octopus, whom we call Dr. Zoidberg, to go for our walk.  He made it to the second set of mailboxes, and wound up on my safety vest - surprise, surprise!  I looked down later and noticed he was being a bit rude, but we won't dwell on that.  Anyway, the reason we call him Dr. Zoidberg is because when he's hanging out of Ci's mouth, she looks like Dr. Zoidberg from Futurama.  If you don't watch Futurama, you won't have a clue what I'm talking about - you can see the characters on line though if you want.  We're quite the Futurama house - Leanna has a one-eyed cat like the purple-haired chickie on the show.

Sure hope you enjoyed your weekend, and your Passover or Easter, if you celebrate either/both of them.  Looking forward to another beautiful day here in SW Florida.  I was in the pool Saturday.  Didn't even have to inch in, it was so warm I just got right in!  Want to join me?  If you want to join the Mellow Yellow celebrators, just click on the button to the right.  Peace.  B : )

Color Carnival, TMS Show and Tell, Camera Critters, Six Word Saturday, Shadow Shot Sunday, Weekend Reflections

COLOR CARNIVAL:
A view of the Sun Flea Market's amusement park, taken long distance from the Michael's Parking Lot.

TMS SHOW & TELL:
Funny, while I was typing that, I fat fingered a key and came up with CHOW and tell - I thought that was pretty appropriate : )  Anyway, once again I have no pictures because I was busy eating, but I will describe to you what dinner was last night:

While running from the milk on the right side of the Publix store to the bananas on the left, I passed the seafood and something special caught my eye - Steel Head Trout. We think that's the best fish ever born and Publix only gets it once in a while and Sam's gets it even less frequently and it's such a treat. It looks like Salmon, so I guess people just pass it by and buy the Salmon, but ohhhhh it is SO MUCH BETTER and Salmon is wonderful.  So our dinner last night was total heaven!! I put olive oil, sea salt, fresh cracked black pepper, and a chiffonade of lime leaves on it, and put the same stuff in the minute rice, and the same stuff minus the lime on the fresh asparagus, and Victor grilled the fish and the asparagus. O M G was it delightful!! I didn't even look to see what the fish cost. I know it's $9.99 a pound but I didn't look at the total - didn't want to spoil the joy.  So if you see a fish that looks like Salmon, read the sign - if it's Steel Head Trout - try it, you won't be sorry!!

CAMERA CRITTERS:
When I walk the dogs, it's around 4:00 to 4:30 in the morning - very dark.  So I wear an orange and yellow safety vest.  CiCi ALWAYS takes a baby with her on the walk, but she ALWAYS drops it along the way, to go smell something.  Now that we have Joy, Joy picks it up and tosses it in the air, and play bows, and acts generally puppyish, but she too drops it.  If all this happens at our mailbox, I can still throw it into the driveway and pick it up on the way back.  If it happens further away, I just tuck it into the top of the vest.  This is a picture of one of CiCi's and Joy's favorite toy, which BTW was bought for Ricky but he couldn't care less.

SIX WORD SATURDAY:

Easter is tomorrow; thank God again.

SHADOW SHOT SUNDAY:
When I looked at this picture the words "turtle skirt" came to mind : )

WEEKEND REFLECTIONS:
Usually the WR shots are so breathtakingly beautiful, but today I am throwing in some industrial grunge, so to speak.  These pictures are of our dirty black wheelbarrow cart, pushed up against the garage wall, under the eaves, and under the downspout, in an effort to catch lots of rain to be used in the watering cans later.  There are reflections, shadows, droplet rings, lots of stuff, none of it pretty, all of it showing how much I need to learn.  In case you haven't guessed, I was trying to catch a shot of the drop actually hitting the water.  Here they are, in all their grungy glory:

Have a wonderful weekend.  If you celebrate Easter, enjoy!  Peace.  B : )

Fertilizer Friday

Here are some of the miracles happening at our house:

Nectarine.  Unfortunately, Joy, the new Greyhound, has taken to biting them either off the tree, or in half while still on the tree.  Guess we won't have to worry about birds and rats - Joy will take care of relieving us of all our nectarines!

One of the roses from the front yard - they seem to have benefitted from the unusual cold.

Pomegranate bud, from which an indescribably colored flower will come, after which the fruit will show up, Lord willing and the creek don't rise.

One of Florida's many, many wildflowers.  If you enlarge this and look closely you can see the beautiful little yellow stamens (right word?).  This little beauty is very tiny....and it's growing up out of the layer of dead leaves shed by the giant ficus tree during the cold spell.

This one is a lemon - a scraggly little tree that was here when we got here that still produces lots of large, beautiful fruit - more than the tree can handle really.

White Bird of Paradise - not as attention getting gorgeous as it's colorful variety, but pretty magnificent in its own right.

Peach - this is the second year for us with this tree.  It appears she liked the cold too.  Joy likes this one too - lots of toys to play with just hanging on the tree.

Lime.  I love lime.  Did you know that lime in a cola product will cut some of the sugar and some of the bubbles and give it an amazing flavor?  I use the leaves as much as I use the fruit, and I especially use them when there is no fruit.  The curious thing about citrus is that you can tell what kind of tree it is by bending and breaking a leaf and smelling or tasting it.  Therefore, the leaves impart the same flavor as the fruit.  A lime leaf or two can sure dress up some instant rice!

There are many more but this has been long enough!  Thanks for looking.  If you'd like to share your leafy miracles, just click on the Fertilizer Friday button to the right.  Peace.  B : )
