Happy St. Patrick's Day - NOT!!

Of course it's not, but when I was uploading and organizing photos to PSE this one caught my eye as a perfect St. Patrick's Day photo - well maybe not perfect. I guess it should have a FOUR leafed clover.
Back to Mellow Yellow Monday, where I belong - our Mexican Sunflowers did not bloom hardly at all this year.  They grew and they multiplied, but they  didn't bloom.  Some of the people we gifted with these plants had the same experience.  Guess it was our cold winter.  But here is one anyway, sharing the spotlight with yet another snail.  This was taken in the dark with a flash - I sort of like that look
These are my birthday flowers from Victor - pretty huh?
And these next two are the gift and card my elder step-daughter made for me. It's hard to see, but the artwork is done on canvas with paints and layers of paper.  She's very talented

Mellow Yellow Monday and Ruby Tuesday (and NaBloPoMo-Green of course : )

This morning I have mastered the art of multi-tasking.  I was about to post this picture for Mellow Yellow Monday and noticed that it was also a decent shot of my newly adopted spoon rest "Dotty" who has come to live with Big Red, who can be seen here, not to mention some other posts.  The flowers were a gift from Matt, who is Lincoln's father, I guess for watching Lincoln - yet another perk to having grandchildren : )  The leaves will do for NaBloPoMo-Green.  Since I don't have to post again tomorrow (unless I want to) I will miss a day of NaBloPoMo.  Been there done that this month!
Please ignore the electric grill, the cooking utensils, and the range hood - all perils of catching shots in a well used kitchen - and I'm way too lazy this morning to work on removing them in Photo Shop Elements!  If anybody knows a shortcut to doing that, let me know!

For Watery Wednesday I hope to have a shot of Lincoln playing in the rain - should be pretty cute : )

Mellow Yellow Monday (and NaBloPoMo-Green of course : )

Oh look, she's shy : )
For some reason, the Mexican Sunflowers have not been blooming much.  The cold winter improved some plants' performance, and others, not so much.  Perhaps this is one of the ones who suffered, or maybe they're just taking their time.  Anyway, easily amused as I am, I got a kick out of this little flower hiding amongst the leaves.

Have a wonderful Monday.  Think of it as a new start; a chance to do it all better.  If you'd like to share on this meme, just click on the button to the right. Peace.  B : )

Mellow Yellow Monday and NaBloPoMo

Today's yellow starts out not so much yellow, but this needs to be viewed in a sequence.  First, I looked up at the lizard cage and it looked like everything was dead or dying:
These are Bird House Gourds and they need to be left on the vine to properly dry.  These few are in different stages of drying; not very pretty, huh?

Then I looked down, and things were looking up : )
A new runner starting, with new blossoms.  So I had to get closer:
Ahhhh, that's more like it - and my well-loved yellow and green together. But it gets even better:
I didn't even realize the blossoms had the little fuzzies inside.  And the center - oh my, it looks like those yellow cauliflowers!  I think this shot is a wallpaper shot in the making.

Somewhere in between NoBloPoMo Green, Mellow Yellow Monday, and Ruby Tuesday, I switched to CHROME!!

Ahh confessions of a speed freak - I love to go fast, I hate to wait, instant gratification is my life - and now I can indulge it all, legally and healthfully, with CHROME.  This is Google's browser.  While on the phone with an extremely helpful rep from Belkin, sharpening my accent recognition skills, he said to me, your browser is too slow.  Hmmmmm.  Years back when I first started computers, and I mean years, I used to keep two browsers because one was good for some things, the other was good for others (searching for speed).  I had removed the other browser so long ago that I don't even remember its name.  But it all clicked when this uber patient gentleman said your browser is too slow.  So I went in search and came up with what I still don't know if it is Foxfire or Firefox, and Chrome.  I read reviews of the pros and cons and decided to go with Google - it's always been good to me. So I took less than a minute to download the thing and OMG is it fast!!  Have you tried it?  What do you think?

Back to our regularly scheduled posts:

NaBloPoMo Green:

This is that crazy amorphophalicwhateveryoucallit plant I told you about before - this is the stem as it looked in October last year.  Behind it is passion fruit vine, honeysuckle and/or jasmine, wild grape, flame vine, and possibly some poison ivy.

Mellow Yellow Monday:

Hawaii in our back yard - yummy!  This is frangipani, otherwise known as mmmmmmmmmmm can't think of it - whenever I remember one name, I can't think of the other!  Anyway, they make leis out of them.  We have mostly yellow.  There is a small pink, but it doesn't flourish like the yellow.

 Ruby Tuesday:

OK, this is a repeat and it's my fault.  I posted this for Camera Critters, but then, as often happens, forgot to link it, so it only got one comment.  Because I love Jeffie so much, and because he's adorable, and because I changed the room, and because the pillow qualifies for "ruby", and because I want to, I am re-posting this picture so everyone can enjoy his adorableness : )  Heeeeeeerrrrrrrs Jeffie!

The story can be found on this past Saturday's post if you're interested.

Busy, busy weekend.  Can't wait to mix up my Alton Brown breakfast smoothie and sit back and watch my recorded Next Food Network Star and Next Design Star shows.....have a few hours before that can happen though.

Have a wonderful day and a fantastic week, and try to make it better for someone else too - you'll get it back twofold.  Peace.  B : )

Mellow Yellow Monday - a trip to the doc's office

Had a routine meds-check visit to the doc's Friday and I stopped on my way out to snap a few pics of this gorgeous tree

Here it is closer up - this shot would make a wonderful jigsaw puzzle - I'm thinking about making that a new meme (would-be puzzle shots, not yellow trees) - what do you think?

Have a wonderful Mellow Yellow Monday and if you'd care to see more, or enter your own shot, just click on the alphabet button to the right.

Many thanks to Hootin' Anni for pointing out that my background left me.  She is SUCH an amazing woman.  I'm trying out new ones now (background, not amazing women).  I have ALWAYS loved red and yellow together, which you probably know.  Peace.  B : )

Mellow Yellow Monday and Ruby Tuesday

You can probably tell by the name of this blog that I collect bees - if not, read my very first post and you'll know all about it.  Sometimes our collections can get a bit out of hand - I recently disposed of several hundred pigs, quite a few carousel horses, some miniature tea sets, and all the Christmas stuff that was in my Winter bedroom.  The bees I am finding homes for outside.  This little fellow graces a low pot of assorted orchids, just to the left of the patio at the back door.  He's a little worse for wear, missing a wing, but he is SO cute!  Every time he catches my eye, I can't help but chuckle.  This shot could also be used for Ruby Tuesday, I see.  It is not unusual to find items with yellow and red together, mainly because yellow is my favorite color, and red is in the top five, and I find the combination of the two very intriguing.  I do have a separate shot for Ruby Tuesday.
This is called a Scarlet Hibiscus, but it differs from regular hibiscus in many ways, the most obvious being that this one grows in water.  Its pot sits in one of our bird baths.  The flowers are HUGE.  The leaves look like something illegal.  It goes dormant in winter although it must be kept in or near water, and then it reblooms in spring.  I planted some of the seeds from this one because I wasn't sure if it would make it through our harsh winter we had last year, and they also grew.  I gave away most of those seedlings.  I got this plant from the native plant nursery, which accounts for its success I guess.  It is breathtakingly beautiful IRL.

Mellow Yellow Monday and Ruby Tuesday

Oops - don't know if I forgot yesterday was Monday, or I was just lost under that mountain of laundry it took ALL day to do.  Either way, or whatever excuse, the fact remains I missed a post.  Hey that's almost a poem. : )

The yellow flower is "faux" but the ruby is all real - the rose is from the front yard, Big Red is peeking out from behind it, and there is red on my Stop Greyhound Racing magnetic bumper sticker which, of course, does not work on non-magnetic cars, so it wound up on the microwave.  Makes perfect sense, don't you think?  It does in our house : )

Please click on the appropriate button to the right to join in on either of these fine memes.  Peace.  B : )

P.S.  Are any of you watching Last Chance Highway?  It's pretty amazing.  It's on Animal Planet I think Saturdays around 8:00 or 9:00 pm.  Now THERE are some people who really make a difference.

Mellow Yellow Monday, Ruby Tuesday, and pretend it's still the 4th of July so you can say..........

Happy birthday America and HAPPY ANNIVERSARY CICI!!!  One year with us and how did we ever live without this little critter.  Here she is the day I picked her up:
and here she is now:
with her face full of leaves - the real Ci.  Love you punky.

And here is Mellow Yellow Monday:
How I love my Crocs - been wearing "faux" ones for several years now, but finally got a real pair - $10 at Big Lots (usually $30).  They take away a lot of pain and they make me smile.  The yellow has been on my list from the beginning, so I got not only real Crocs but my yellow ones all at once and at a bargain price.  I am blessed : )

And here is Ruby Tuesday:
This is the well worn top of a large and old wind chime - one of the things I see quite often from my retired woman's recliner chair : )

Mellow Yellow Monday

Happy Mellow Yellow Monday to you!  A brand new week - make it wonderful - for you AND someone else, if you can.

These pictures may be shocking if you suffer from arachnaphobia (sp?) but they're really quite beautiful.  I have never seen one of these - Victor says it's a banana spider.  It wasn't the spider so much that fascinated us, but the extra large zig zag in his(her) web.  If you know anything about this spider and/or the big zig zag, please leave your info in the comments.  Thanks!

To join in on the Mellow Yellow Monday fun, just click on the Mellow Yellow Monday button in my sidebar...over there to your right.  And tune in tomorrow - we'll have a guest appearance from Devo.  Peace.  B : )

Mellow Yellow Monday

Wow, happy Monday again!  By now, you probably know that I am a sucker for yellow flowers; well, all things yellow really, but flowers especially.  When we first moved here going on ten years ago, I bought some wedelia, because it was yellow.  We're still trying to tame it!  At the time, I did not know it was incredibly invasive.  Down at the very far end of our property, we keep a "wild area" for birds and squirrels and invasive flowers.  That's where we try to keep the passion flower and the wedelia.  It's a pretty place : )

Mellow Yellow Monday

A few short days after this shot, this gourd was gone, devoured from the inside out by some tiny boring insect.  So were his siblings. They were cute, all lined up in various stages of growth.  First the cold, now the bugs are killing our stuff.  We had to toss every single nectarine on our tree and there were tons of them and they looked good, till all juice started oozing out of them.  Oh well, they were fun while they were growing.  And the peaches!  Oh my, we had to liberate the tree of all her fruit because she was lying on the ground!  Many of them weren't near ready yet, but we thought we'd spare the tree for next year.

MELLOW YELLOW MONDAY:

Frangipani (Plumeria) from the garden - these are the flowers they use to make leis - please excuse all the junk in the background - not a very "professional" picture, I know, but pretty nonetheless.  Peace.  B : )

Mellow Yellow Monday AND Ruby Tuesday

These two memes are featured together because these two colors appear quite often together at our house.   First is part of my bird collection:
and next is one branch from our peach tree - just how many peaches can one branch have?  The poor tree is so overloaded, it's lying on the ground!

Mellow Yellow Monday

But first, we interrupt this Mellow Yellow Monday, to bring you the latest picture of Lincoln:

And now, on to the real Mellow Yellow Monday.  This one needs to be enlarged so you can see all the amazing details.  This is one of the decorative gourds we're growing on the side of the lizards' cage:

Mellow Yellow Monday

Hi there.  Hope your weekend and Mothers' Day were fun and love filled.  Our friend Mikey had his 54th birthday dinner on Saturday.  One of his favorite things is hats, so when I saw this one, I didn't even ask how much it cost, I just had to have it for Mike:

It's a Tampa Bay cap with fake fur for the crown.  He seemed to like it!  When we got home from there, this was waiting for me on the kitchen counter:

As if the flowers weren't gorgeous enough, being my favorite color and all (and the bouquet being made by Leanna), the presentation was amazing, and the note was touching beyond words.  This is from my younger step-daughter.  A very wonderful Mellow Yellow for sure!

Sunday I made a full fledged turkey dinner for seven - pictures of that later.

Mellow Yellow Monday and Ruby Tuesday - together again

First, when I posted my Friday, Saturday, and Sunday combination post, I inadvertently left out the Weekend Reflections shot.  It's in there now and it's really pretty special (historically significant even) if you want to go see it.

Anyway, on to Mellow Yellow Monday and Ruby Tuesday - I have always loved those two colors together although they haven't always been "socially acceptable":

The first pictures are of a glass ball, red and yellow, that hangs in the front of the house, right in front of the window of my craft room (hence the wild curtains).

The other pictures are of some fungi-like things that appear early in the morning, get darker yellow as the day goes by, and finally turn into a beige pouff pile.  Can't explain it.  Don't know what it is.  But if you do, I'd like to hear it.  Thanks.

If you would care to join in on, or just look in on, these memes, just click the appropriate buttons to the right.

Hope you had a wonderful weekend.  May this week be even better.  Peace.  B : )
