Shadow Shot Sunday and Weekend Reflections

Wow, guess I wasn't all better yet, but I think I'm back now.  Lots happening.  Celebrated yet another birthday Thursday and reflected again on the horrible events of 9-11.  This year the TV shows had a different slant to them - did you notice?  Some people seem to think there was a conspiracy and the US did this to itself?  Personally, I have always thought that one should not waste time trying to place blame, but to use that time and energy to make things better, fix what happened, make the customer happy, whatever.  I can't wrap my mind around that one; but then, I can't wrap it around that whole day anyway.  Just beyond belief.  And of all the many things that come to mind whenever I allow myself to think of that day, I guess the two that hit me hardest are how the people who had friends/relatives in those buildings were feeling while waiting to see/hear more, and how all of those police/fire/rescue people didn't just run screaming in the other direction.  Talk about strength!  And no, I haven't forgotten about the people who were trapped in the buildings, I just know from experiences that if something is happening to you, you can find a way to get through it, but if it's happening to someone you love, it's just worse somehow. The whole thing is just beyond belief.  And now I feel that this conspiracy thinking is disrespecting the people who lived, or didn't live, through 9-11, and God knows they all need and deserve respect.

On a lighter note - here's a fly shadow : )
And another reflection from a cleaner birdbath : )
The birds do use this, notably an on-going family of cardinals and one of blue jays, but mostly it's used by Jeff and Joy for drinking.

Shadow Shot Sunday and Weekend Reflections

Here I am, back from my unintentional vacation from blogland - got sick last Saturday night and am still getting better!

This shadow shot may just have been better if you were there.  I tried it in black and white and that still didn't show what I know I was seeing.  The sun was shining through the back of the bloom so there were shadows in the throat and there are some on the leaves and the rest of the bloom.
This Weekend Reflection shot may be even more obscure - do you see the camera in the upper left corner?  I was driving with my right hand, and taking the shot with my left, without looking at what I was shooting.  I figured there was this giant sky just loaded with stuff to look at - I had to hit something good!

Shadow Shot Sunday, Weekend Reflections, and NaBloPoMo-Green

Shadow Shot Sunday:  Ever see gingham doors?
Now you have!

Weekend Reflections:  of me in the DH's truck, taking a picture of me taking a picture reflected in the car next to us - confused yet???
And a little bit of green for NaBloPoMo:
Whoa, this baby needs some of that wrinkle stuff!!

Happy Sunday.  If you'd care to further explore these memes just click on the appropriate button(s) to the right.  Peace.  B : )

Shadow Shot Sunday, Weekend Reflections, and NaBloPoMo

Jeez, I have been such a slug lately with my blogging, I decided to sign up with NaBloPoMo for the month of August.  The theme is GREEN, and since it offers so many interpretations, I thought I'd give it a try.

Shadow Shot Sunday:

This is green indeed - several shades of green in fact.  These are those crazy fuzzy ferns I have mentioned to you before, casting shadows on a White Bird of Paradise leaf.  You even get the bonus of the dew drops on the leaf.  How "green" can you get - free water for the plants : )

WEEKEND REFLECTIONS:
Here I couldn't decide, so I gave you all three shots.  We had a little rain and it collected on a "beauty-challenged" dark green plastic table, turning it into a wonderland of reflections!  The little beige fuzz you see in one picture is Ricky, recycling rain water : )

If you would care to join NaBloPoMo to open your horizons, or if you'd like to look at and/or join in on Weekend Reflections and Shadow Shot Sunday, just click on the appropriate button to the right.

Peace and lovely green-ness to you!  B : )

Shadow Shot Sunday and Weekend Reflections

Hi there!  Yes, I'm still competing for the "bad blogger" award.  Life just keeps getting in the way.  Sorry.  Well, not really : )

Here is my Shadow Shot:
BTW, if you ever decide to put your little ficus houseplant outside to grow, this is what to expect.

And here is the Weekend Reflection shot.  This is the little "foyer" at the front door where the dogs get in their "suits" to go for our morning walk:
That mirror is from a maple set that was my first husband's when he was a child; the hat rack is one of those cheapie brass ones, painted - talk bout recycling. The green to the left of the mirror is a 60's-ish beaded curtain that hangs over the glass block window, and the shell wreath was made by a very dear neighbor.  There are four hooks screwed into the mirror (you can just see the tops) where the dogs' harnesses and leashes hang.  That little note you see taped at the lower right corner is actually usually right up on the mirror, but I moved it for the picture.  That, AND the one on the door, which you can see in the mirror, are to remind people to be sure the door is latched, not just pulled to, because we lost our dear Jack due to that sort of error : (  and it was beyond horrible.  Jack's loss was - in our Greyhound world - like the first dent in a new car.  Once we felt a bit better about that, it was just a teensy tad easier (yeah right) when we lost Josie and Fred.  Now that I'm writing this, I realize that isn't true - it didn't make the subsequent losses any easier, it just took away the dread of the first time loss.  But now we have Jeffie and Joy (not to mention the terriers) and it helps.  I may have mentioned here before (maybe even more than twice) that Joy has lots of the unique personality quirks that both Jack and Josie used to have.  It's such a blessing!  Victor calls her Josie so often that he now calls her Joysey.  Here she is in a big hole she dug - just like Josie used to.  Just look at that face!

Have a great weekend.  Try to take a minute to drop in on these memes - buttons to the right.  Peace.  B : )

Oh jeez, I did it again - sorry, long post alert!

FERTILIZER FRIDAY:
Our little peach tree was so heavy with fruit, it was lying on the ground.  the peaches were growing like grapes in clusters.

So we liberated the poor tree of its burden and now the crazy thing is growing new leaves!  That's Joy under the tree - she likes to eat wood, and peaches - we're still trying to find out why on the wood.  The peaches she plays with till they "die".  We don't let her do that anymore though, because we didn't know she was eating them until she ate one and vomited a peach pit - thank God it came out!

SKYWATCH FRIDAY:
There is always a skyshow in Florida, no matter what season, what time, or anything - there is ALWAYS something interesting in the sky.  So why don't I take more sky shots???
CAMERA CRITTERS:
This is the smaller of Ricky's two little houses - his den.  He's all sacked out there, tucked up in the corner next to my computer desk.

SIX WORD SATURDAY:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LINCOLN - TODAY YOU'RE ONE!
(Actually it's Sunday, but I'm running behind again)

WEEKEND REFLECTIONS:
Window AND bottom door panel - too cool!

SUNDAY SHADOW SHOTS:
The Queen Mum gave me these keys for Christmas - I strung them on rough twine and hung them over the door.

All of these memes, and the people who take care of them, and the people who participate are extraordinary - I simply cannot do them justice with my silly little pix.  Please do yourself a favor and go check out some really great shots.  Just click on the appropriate button(s) to the right.

Hope your weekend is enjoyable so far - and better later.  Peace.  B : )

Oh boy am I behind!! AND I have a question....

Question - has anyone else experienced any changes in Blogger?  My pictures used to go where I put them, but lately they've been going to the top of the post and I have to move them to where I want them.  It's always possible I changed a setting, being an impatient clicker, but I was wondering if this happened to anyone else????

FERTILIZER FRIDAY:
For every gardening joy

you will find at least one, maybe more, gardening upsets.  For instance, the Passion Flower (above) is invasive AND the bugs do horrible things to the veggies:
SKYWATCH FRIDAY:
Projectile vomiting cloud

COLOR CARNIVAL:
The Color Carnival meme has changed some of the rules, so I'm not quite sure this can be entered yet, but here it is before I forget it : )  I'll go check later.
SIX WORD SATURDAY:
It's hot here and humid too!

CAMERA CRITTERS:
I asked my DH why it's back was so bumpy and he said it's probably babies - don't look if critters make you squeamish : )

SHADOW SHOT SUNDAY:
Looks kind of Halloweenish doesn't it?

WEEKEND REFLECTIONS:
Look at all the little bitty palm trees along the curves of my car - looks like custom pin striping!!

Sure hope your weekend is going great - and that next week is even better.  Peace.  B : )

Color Carnival, Camera Critters, Six Word Saturday, Shadow Shot Sunday, Weekend Reflections

Holy Camoley, is it the weekend already?  I have to go back to work; this busy retired life is killing me!

COLOR CARNIVAL:
And yes, I forgot to vote again, but the three winners this week are certainly more than deserving!  That one with the thread makes me drool.  Speaking of drooling, here's Mikey's cake for this year -

and it was sooooo good - gotta LOVE a Publix cake!

CAMERA CRITTERS:
Here I was trying to take some good pictures of the White Bird of Paradise.  This is harder than you think because, for one thing, it's very tall, and the flowers are a translucent-irridescent sort of off white color, like those pretty paint jobs on expensive cars.  Except for one petal on each flower which is a pastel shade of, ohhhh, probably periwinkle (check your Crayola box). All around the flowers, the plant is pretty nasty.  Anyway, when I checked the pictures, there was a bird, in every shot.  Can you find him/her in all of them?

Did you find them all?

SIX WORD SATURDAY:
God, please help the oily wildlife.

SHADOW SHOT SUNDAY:
Eeek - is it a monster?  Is it an upside down giant bunny?

WEEKEND REFLECTIONS:
Here is Joy, reflecting on the relections in the pool..reflecting on whether or not she will ever get in it...reflecting on when her Daddy might be not too busy to finish it..reflecting on how her Mommy thinks it is a blessing, finished or not : )

Click on the button(s) to the right to see what these memes are all about.  Hope you have a happy weekend.

Fertilizer Friday, SkyWatch Friday, Color Carnival, Camera Critters, Six Word Saturday, Shadow Shot Sunday, Weekend Reflections

Another busy week, thus multiple memes.  I cannot believe how busy one can be when retired.  To do all I used to do when I worked - well, I'm pretty sure I was SuperWoman....and I know that all of you who are still out there slaving to make a living are SuperWomen too!  And men too, I guess, if you don't have a woman who does it all for you : )

If you would like to look further into these memes, perhaps even join in, please click on the appropriate button(s) to the right.  You are guaranteed to find some fantastic shots!

FERTILIZER FRIDAY - Freaky Peachy

SKYWATCH FRIDAY - tire tracks in the sky??

COLOR CARNIVAL - a napkin from Mikey's birthday party!

CAMERA CRITTERS - the lizard who thought he was the turtle's tongue

SIX WORD SATURDAY - MOTHER'S DAY GONE; FATHER'S DAY COMING!

SHADOW SHOT SUNDAY - right smack across the picture!

WEEKEND REFLECTIONS - Lincoln is looking at his face in the pool water - look closely and you can see it too.

Hope you are having, and continue to have, a wonderful weekend.  I know, I know, Monday is coming up fast, ugh, but just try to think of it as a new beginning : )  It helps, honest.  Peace.  B : )
