TMS SHOW & TELL:
Funny, while I was typing that, I fat fingered a key and came up with CHOW and tell - I thought that was pretty appropriate : )  Anyway, once again I have no pictures because I was busy eating, but I will describe to you what dinner was last night:

While running from the milk on the right side of the Publix store to the bananas on the left, I passed the seafood and something special caught my eye - Steel Head Trout. We think that's the best fish ever born and Publix only gets it once in a while and Sam's gets it even less frequently and it's such a treat. It looks like Salmon, so I guess people just pass it by and buy the Salmon, but ohhhhh it is SO MUCH BETTER and Salmon is wonderful.  So our dinner last night was total heaven!! I put olive oil, sea salt, fresh cracked black pepper, and a chiffonade of lime leaves on it, and put the same stuff in the minute rice, and the same stuff minus the lime on the fresh asparagus, and Victor grilled the fish and the asparagus. O M G was it delightful!! I didn't even look to see what the fish cost. I know it's $9.99 a pound but I didn't look at the total - didn't want to spoil the joy.  So if you see a fish that looks like Salmon, read the sign - if it's Steel Head Trout - try it, you won't be sorry!!

CAMERA CRITTERS:
When I walk the dogs, it's around 4:00 to 4:30 in the morning - very dark.  So I wear an orange and yellow safety vest.  CiCi ALWAYS takes a baby with her on the walk, but she ALWAYS drops it along the way, to go smell something.  Now that we have Joy, Joy picks it up and tosses it in the air, and play bows, and acts generally puppyish, but she too drops it.  If all this happens at our mailbox, I can still throw it into the driveway and pick it up on the way back.  If it happens further away, I just tuck it into the top of the vest.  This is a picture of one of CiCi's and Joy's favorite toy, which BTW was bought for Ricky but he couldn't care less.

Easter is tomorrow; thank God again.

When I looked at this picture the words "turtle skirt" came to mind : )

WEEKEND REFLECTIONS:
Usually the WR shots are so breathtakingly beautiful, but today I am throwing in some industrial grunge, so to speak.  These pictures are of our dirty black wheelbarrow cart, pushed up against the garage wall, under the eaves, and under the downspout, in an effort to catch lots of rain to be used in the watering cans later.  There are reflections, shadows, droplet rings, lots of stuff, none of it pretty, all of it showing how much I need to learn.  In case you haven't guessed, I was trying to catch a shot of the drop actually hitting the water.  Here they are, in all their grungy glory:

SIX WORD SATURDAY:
Yes, I am multi tasking again!

COLOR CARNIVAL:

One day when Ricepatty and I were walking in Shamrock Park, we stopped in their Demonstration Garden to enjoy and take pictures.  The lady who happened to be the same person who planted the section we were looking at when she pulled up came in and gave us a.....you guessed it, demonstration.  She explained all the different things in the different gardens and why they were there and what purpose they served, etc.  This gorgeous bunch of color is an Ice Plant and it is a groundcover.  It appears to have the same kind of leaves as my spikey yellow flowered things (technical name of course).  The bloom looked dry like a paper flower, yet the leaves looked fleshy like succulents.  Ahhhh Mother Nature!

TMS SHOW AND TELL:
Once again, I do not have any nice pictures of food, but I do have a good one of my step-grandson eating some food - eggs and mashed peas, definitely NOT good-looking food.

CAMERA CRITTERS:
This guy resides in Blalock Park, and is a climb-on sculpture.  Some bully kicked sand in his eyes!

COLOR CARNIVAL:
My favorite pair of hangin' out PJs got tissue thin and busted out some holes, so I went shopping for more since all the others are capri pants and short sleeves.  I had missed most of the winter sales and couldn't find any, so I put together some of my own.  When I brought them home I noticed they were quite colorful.  The purple on the bottom was a real steal - queen sized purple T-shirt sheets for the yellow/green/white room with the dark purple rug - only $9.00!!

You may have to make this bigger to see, but the little green thing between the white flower and the yellow thingey is the new lime.

The Motivation Station - Show and Tell

Martha, the maniacal meme maker from Menagerie, has come up with a new one - to check it out, click on the button to the right.

This is a leek.  I don't know what happened to it, perhaps it outgrew its britches, but I thought it looked cool, so I snapped it.

I know the feeling.  I don't have any pretty pictures of food because (a) I'm too busy eating it and (b) if it smells good and tastes good I don't care what it looks like.  I would make a crappy chef wouldn't I??  Anyway, back to leeks - fascinating I know.  Leeks look like giant scallions, or you may call them green onions or spring onions.  They bring a much milder taste to the party (as Alton would say) though and they're very good for a little extra flavor for people who don't really want lots of onion.  Probably leeks are most famous for Leek and Potato soup, deservedly because it's delicate and light and delicious.  However, I first used them in a dish that makes people who don't like squash, well, like squash.  Simple, just thin slices of zucchini, yellow squash, and leeks, layered in a microwave casserole with butter and dill - no salt and pepper or anything.  Cook till soft.  Yummy!  But you'd have to be there and taste it because it sure doesn't sound yummy.  When I can get leeks less expensively like at farmers markets and things I like to get them just to challenge myself to find more uses for them.  Just last week I used some cut small and sauted with mushrooms and herbs to put on the grilled lamb slice we had.  And I also put some with small pieces of apple, tiny pieces of cooked bacon, apple cider, caraway seeds, brown sugar, salt/pepper, and a teensy pinch of Chinese Five Spice Powder, which I put in with the drained sauerkraut, and poured that over the seared pork roast that was already waiting in the crock pot.  Used the apple cider to deglaze the pan after the searing, and added the others in from there  Mmmmmmm and it was good - better than if I had used onion.  As you can probably tell, I love to make up my own recipes, which is why I can't bake worth a darn, but I CAN cook, and, when possible, I choose the lovely, some would say lowly, leek to enhance my recipes.  Why not give them a try?  Peace.  B : )
